New Adverrun V2 (2021) Contra drive system 82MM Spinner

We're pleased to announce that we've released an update to our Adverrun contra drive.
This drive features an increased output power of ~3.5kw and typically spins props at ~200 rpm more than the previous version.
At the same time we were able to reduce weight by ~10% down to 475g - 560g (depending on how it's measured).
Various other changes are aimed at better maintainability and ease of installation.
This update is the result of a process that took about 1 1/2 years during which we have built multiple prototypes with different gear reduction ratios.
We tested 10+ different motors/winds to find the best configuration for the system.
Two drives with very different configurations entered the final evaluation and we worked with pilots around the world to assess those options and identify the best drive.
So while it may look like a minor update this revision is actually the result of a long and pretty open process to build the best contra drive for F3A.
We're very glad that we're able to offer this drive to a broader public now.
Robert and Malte Owners and manufacturers of the Adverrun Contra Systems Germany Helical gears reduce the generated sound and vibration level due to smoother meshing and more constant transmission of torque.
A rear soft mount limits the number of vibrations transmitted into the fuselage.
We have tested these changes and also worked with some pilots to gather feedback.
This feedback has been super positive and we are confident that this allows pushing the limits further.
Another smaller change we're rolling out is the addition of a spare steel shaft and a belt.
The steel shaft is supposed to keep pilots airborne even if they happen to have an unexpected ground contact on a landing.
A belt replacement seems needed roughly every 700-1500 flights.
Adverrun AVR XS has been designed for 10s Lipo packs. We have tested the most common propeller combinations ranging from 20″ to 23″ diameter.
Generally, we found that higher pitch propellers perform a bit better and recommend using Front: 22×20 / Rear: 22×22. Depending on the chosen propeller maximum currents of 90-120A are expected on the ground which provides more power than needed for a typical F3A flight.
Weight has always been a concern in F3A and we are very glad that we were able to improve weight further with the 2nd version of the Adverrun AVR XS drive.
We list the weight as a span ranging from 475g if measured w/o accessories to 560g if spinner and accessories (i.e. screws and rubber mounts) are included. This allows using the lower number for comparing weight with other systems but also enables a more realistic estimate of the final weight of the plane.
